WHAT IT MEANS FOR XBOX

This deal is excellent news for PC and Xbox users. Phil Spencer, the CEO of Microsoft Gaming, has already revealed plans to bring Activision Blizzard games to the Xbox Game Pass.

In a blog post following the acquisition, Spencer promised that Xbox will “continue to innovate and deliver on our commitment to bring the joy and community of gaming to more people.”

He also states, “Whether you play on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo, PC, or mobile, you are welcome here – and will remain welcome, even if Xbox isn’t where you play your favorite franchise.”

Spencer hasn’t disclosed which games will come to Xbox Game Pass or when, but it’s clear that we’ll have to wait until late 2023 or early 2024 to learn more.

WHAT IT MEANS FOR PLAYSTATION

Fortunately, in July, Microsoft and Sony signed a binding agreement that will keep Call of Duty available on PlayStation for at least ten years. What happens after that? We will have to wait and see.

So, for now, PS4 and PS5 users will still have access to CoD. Reading Spencer’s blog post, it appears that Microsoft is open to collaborating with other platforms, like Nintendo, to ensure that Activision Blizzard games remain accessible to everyone.
