Animal Crossing: New Horizons is Here!
Animal Crossing: New Horizons has launched and the developers are hoping that the game would help people get through the global pandemic happening right now.
The game offers players a chance meet up with friends in a charming virtual world. This is the contrast to what is happening right now where people are encouraged to stay indoors because of the Coronavirus that is happening all over the globe.

During an interview with The Verge, the game’s producer, Hisashi Nogami revealed that they are “very disheartened and saddened by the events happening across the world. Considering the timing, we hope that a lot of the Animal Crossing fans will use this as an escape, so they can enjoy themselves during this difficult time.”
Nagomi also said that they have “been planning this release for quite some time now, so it’s unfortunate that this timing overlapped with what’s currently happening in the world”.
The developers did a simultaneous global release so that those who are forced into isolation can still meet up with their friends online. Aya Kyogouku, the game’s director said that. “It’s the kind of game you want to enjoy with other people, and talk about it, and share the experience with your friends and family. So, I think, that a global, simultaneous release is a really good approach for the franchise.”
Before the game launched, anticipation for it had been building up, with fans begging Nintendo to release the game early. Although the early launch did not happen, Nintendo did their best to launch the game simultaneously around the globe so that everyone can enjoy the game at the same time during these unhappy times.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons will be launching today, March 20, 2020, and it is available to be played in on the Nintendo Switch.
