The source of the leak is Tom Henderson, who in some respects a reliable source of leaked information from EA and DICE’s upcoming game.

Battlefield 2042 is set to launch later in the year. One of the rumors is that the game’s environment will be completely destructible excluding buildings that come with fixed objectives.

Henderson also shared that that Battlefield 2042 will also come with an overhauled multiplayer. There will still be Squads in the game but with the addition of a “Platoon” where squads are able to team up and work together.

Another thing that Henderson talked about is the Battle Royale mode which is said to be free-to-play and will launch along with a Battle Pass. This could be a format followed by the success of Activision’s Call of Duty: Warzone.

Battlefield 2042 Setting

Battlefield 2042

Each Battlefield game has a specific setting. And that is probably the most asked question about a Battlefield game that is about to launch.

Battlefield 1 had a World War 1 setting and Battlefield V was set in World War 2. According to the rumors, the next game for the franchise will have a more modern setting like that of Battlefield 3.

Battlefield 2042 Gameplay

As for the core gameplay, pretty sure like with other games of the franchise, we are sure to expect a fast-paced, first-person shooter that has immense maps and a whole lot of players.

Call of Duty Warzone had huge amounts of players around 150 to 200, surely we can expect the same numbers with Battlefield 6 as the franchise is known for its huge battles.

In the recently shared test footage, we saw the player numbers, building destruction, character detail and huge maps.

During the EA earnings call, Andrew Wilson the EA CEO said, “the next vision of Battlefield takes all the destruction, player agency, and vehicle and weapon combat that the franchise is known for and elevates it to another level.”

Battlefield 2042 Crossplay

Battlefield 2042

With the next-gen consoles launching, surely Battlefield 2042 has been made with the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 in mind.

Henderson believes that the game will have 128-player maps with crossplay available. According to the leak, those who will own the game on the PS4 and Xbox One won’t have access to the high-player counts, and would only be able to play in the 32 vs 32 matches.

Make sure to take all this information with a grain of sand as these are only leaks. But we are sure that Henderson was able to give us a lot of rumors that turned out to be true in the past. An example of this is the name and setting of CoD: Modern Warfare and Warzone. It is said that Battlefield 6 will be launching by the holiday season of 2021 for the PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S
