Borderlands 3 Reaches Biggest Launch For Physical Sales For 2019 In The UK
It looks like Borderlands 3 started off with a bang in the UK games market. As seen in the latest report of UK games and Ukie which is an interactive entertainment industry trade body, Borderlands 3 was able to reach the biggest launch of this year with regards to physical sales.
However, if you check Microsoft, the launch of Gears 5 does tell a whole new different story, selling lower than the other games in the series. But we do have to keep in mind that Ukie only records the physical sales and what happened here could be that fans of the game preferred to get it via the Xbox Game Pass or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. This is what Cristopher Dring of GamesIndustry.biz has said as well.
Gears 5 chose a bad week to launch, and as a result sold a quarter of what Gears 4 did (again boxed sales). On paper, that seems disappointing and suggests the brand’s troubles continue. But we live in a Game Pass world. So who knows— Christopher Dring (@Chris_Dring) September 16, 2019
