However, Gelsinger thinks otherwise, as he believes the shortage will continue up until 2024.

A lot of people are in lockdown and are forced to stay at home because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Work from home, homeschooling, and more gaming time has brought up the demand for PCs as well as gaming consoles.

The demand was not able to catch up with the supply as the coronavirus pandemic has cut the workforce in half and on the ground manufacturing was put to a stop.

Gelsinger said that the “shortages have now hit equipment and some of those factory ramps will be more challenged.”

when will the PC chip shortage end?

Recently, Microsoft was able to pay for priority from chip manufacturers which made them able to have more Xbox Series X consoles. The PS5 stocks didn’t have the same fate.

With what Gelsinger said, it looks like the shortage for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox will continue until 2024.

Gelsinger also added that Intel is planning to move its factories to the US so that they wouldn’t be dependent on the Asian market.
