Could Windows 10 Be The Top Gaming OS?

In the recent Steam Software Data, Windows 10 came out as Top OS of Choice

Windows 10 came out to be the top operating system that the Steam gamers are using. This has been based according to the latest data found in the Steam’s Hardware and Software Survey.

Windows 10 32-Bit and 64-Bit

Windows 10 was already able to exceed Windows 7 in the 64-Bit only versions list in March of this year. However, during that month, Windows 7 is still leading when you combine its 32-bit and 64-bit totals.

The May 2016 survey does show that both the Windows 10 versions are topping the list. Windows 10 came out with a combined total of 41.05% with its 64-bit version at 39.68% and its 32-bit version at 1.37%. Windows 7 on the other hand came out to be 39.02% the total came from the 64-bit version at 32.25% and 32-bit version at 6.77%.


In as far as operating systems are concerned, the Windows Operating System is still widely prefered by Steam gamers. Windows tops the list at 95.42%, OS X at 3.06% and Linux at 0.84%.

Top OS

An additional metric has been added to the survey and involves VR Headsets. As we all know the VR revolution in gaming is picking up rather fast. Get to know which one is topping Steam’s list. The HTC Vive is coming out on top with a  66.61%, Oculus Rift DK 2’s at 19.49% and Oculus Rift at 13.9%.

The Steam Hardware and Software survey is a monthly analysis that Steam conducts. Participation to this survey is optional and users will remain anonymous. This survey helps Steam widely as they can easily make decisions as to what types of technology investments and products they will offer in the near future.
