CD Projekt Red released their 2020 financial year report and it showed that the company did fine.

Last year, Cyberpunk 2077 was able to sell more than 13.7 million copies and according to CDPR, it is “the largest game in CD Projekt Red’s history”. The game has amassed 8 million pre-orders the day before it launched. CDPR also stated that The Witcher 3 also sold more than 30 million copies which helped in their successful 2020 sales.

Cyberpunk 2077 had a rough start for those who opted to play the game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The problems led to reimbursements which also forced Sony to remove the game from its store. Microsoft also issued reimbursements to those who made purchases through them.

The sales of Cyberpunk 2077 reached 13.7 million units worldwide, the bulk is for PC and Stadia at 56%, then for PlayStation with 28% and Xbox at 17%. This resulted in 560 million US dollars in revenue and a profit of 303 million US dollars.

If you are wondering what role the refunds played, CD Projekt’s “Help Me Refund” program was able to give out 30,000 refunds which translate to only 2.23 million US dollars. This program had been set up for the buyers who were not able to get a refund through the official shops.

Other things that you are able to see in the annual report are the “Other provisions” which is about 51.1 million US dollars. Included in this section are the sales losses, refunds and projected refunds. The direct refunds had a total of 12.9 million US dollars. What this means is that there are only 215,000 copies of Cyberpunk 2077 returned since it is $60 dollars a piece. This is just 1.6 percent of all the versions of Cyberpunk 2077 sold in 2020.
