Frey Holland was just an average mew yorker living her life wanting to get out of the city until a magical portal transported her into another dimension where magic is very much real. Forspoken is an action-adventure RPG mainly focused on magi and the battles associated with it made by Luminous Productions the studio behind Final Fantasy XV. Attached with her seems to be a magical sentient bracelet it allows her to perform powerful spells with it, additionally, it also explained to her that she’s in the land of Athia once controlled by a cabal of powerful Matriarchal Sorcerers called Tanta’s, but with the arrival of the Break Blight it drove most of them mad turning the protectors of Athia against the people it swore to protect. You on the other hand are not affected by it, the last remaining people of Athia are both hopeful and apprehensive of your arrival.
Forspoken feels like a breath of fresh air for open-world adventures with its stylish engine but is held back by pacing and other foibles.
Rough and ready, just like Frey, Forspoken is a tale worth stomping through one high-stakes, magic-infused battle at a time.
