GTA 6 Said To Use RAGE9 Graphics Engine
April 27, 2022 | Gaming News
Grand Theft Auto 6 will be using an updated version of the RAGE engine by Rockstar Games as reported by an insider.
Tom Henderson, a known industry insider unveiled that GTA 6 will have a modern setting instead of being set in the 1980’s.
Due to a previous leak, fans of GTA franchise felt certain that the next GTA game will be going back to Vice City and into the 80s. But because of Tom Henderson’s tweet, that proved to be not the case at all, the tweet reads, “It’s not set in the 1980’s and is modern”. This was his answer when a fan asked him about the upcoming game.
The speculations started because of the “Project Americas leak” last July 2019. The leak was posted on Reddit which hinted at the GTA 6’s 1980s Vice City setting, however, it was since then removed. Because that leak had been pulled out and the addition of the new tweet by Henderson, we are guessing it is now safe to say that that is the end of that rumor.
A modern setting for GTA 6 makes more sense as GTA Online is also set in that time frame. Having a modern setting means that there is a lot of crazy things that could happen in the game that is more fascinating to players. A good example is GTA 5’s multiplayer where we can see the Batmobile, the Deloreans, amphibious vehicles that are heavily armed and even a rocket-powered motorbike.
Another thing is that GTA Online had been a great success financially, so it wouldn’t be a good idea to make a complete change.
With everything said, it won’t be a surprise if Tom Henderson’s post is correct about GTA 6. Although the thought of coming back to Vice City is something that should just be put on the back burner because fans would still want to know about the mystery of the web domain for “Vice City Online”.
Actually, Rockstar’s Dan Houser already hinted about the potential setting of GTA 6 in 2018 where he said that the game won’t be set in the “Trump era”.
The setting said is pretty vague since GTA 6 can still be in a modern setting without being in the Trump era.
Dan Houser, if you didn’t know, is a writer and producer of popular games like Red Dead Redemption, Bully, or Max Payne 3. He, however, left Rockstar Games in February 2020, but it is hard not to think that he may have something to do with how GTA 6 is now before leaving the company.
