Valve’s newest VR Half-Life game is set to launch in just a little over a month. To celebrate the coming of this game, Valve has the core games of the series available for free on Steam.

The games may be quite dated, however, both Half-Life and Half-Life 2 plus the two extra episodes are actually considered as some of the best single-player first-person shooters out there. The very first Half-Life game is known to be the inspiration for other story-driven titles of the same genre. If you are long-time fans, surely you have great memories for both game’s multiplayer matches.

If you are interested in downloading these games for free, we have the links available below:

You can also play Opposing Force and Blue Shift for free right now. What is not available is the standalone multiplayer mode for Half-Life 2 called DeathMatch.

The Half-Life games that are free-to-play will only be for free up until Half-Life Alyx launches. The storyline of Alyx is set between Half-Life and Half-Life 2, so if you are short of time and could only play one, go for Half-Life. But if you have all the time in the world, play the sequel and its two additional episodes as some of the characters from those games will also be available in the VR spin-off.

If you would rather have the games as your own instead of playing them for free, I suggest that you check out the deals that are available below:

Half-Life Alyx will be launching in March of this year and is available to be played on the Valve Index, HTC Vive, Oculus, and Windows Mixed Reality. Free copies are available with the purchase of the Valve Index, but those are most likely sold out right now.
