The Mass Effect Andromeda multiplayer mode is a Peer-to-Peer connection was decided for the game. So, that would mean that the game won’t have a dedicated server.

This information is seen in a Twitter reply by the game’s producer Fernando Melo:

Opinions about the P2P connection is different for each player and has caused a debate on Reddit. Mainly, most people think that dedicated servers are much better.

“Not ideal, but not as bad as when PVP games don’t have dedicated servers. A lot of people like to reference For Honor or recent titles, but for me, Destiny always come to mind as almost unplayable multiplayer because of Peer-to-Peer.” -ShesJustAGlitch

“Not as bad when it mainly is a single player game, but p2p is still shit for anything other than 1v1.” -sceptical_dick

While others are not taking sides, they are explaining the pros P2P.

“Not many games actually use P2P because it is hard to implement correctly, in certain situations and if done correctly P2P can be better than host/client, but it always differs from game to game.” -dekenfrost

The Multiplayer Beta was canceled as announced previously. It may also have something to do with the connection.

Mass Effect Andromeda is nearing its own launch date. Arriving on March 21 in North America and March 23 in Europe. Available for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One
