Metro Exodus Preloads Available On Steam But Not On Epic Games Store

In a bizarre twist of events, the Metro Exodus preloads will happen on Steam but not on the Epic Game Store where the game should have been an exclusive of. Those who can preload the game on Steam are the only ones who were able to pre-order the game there before the last minute switch for the game to be an Epic Game Store exclusive.
What this means is that those who bought the game through the Epic Games Store won’t have preloading available. The game is about 50 GB in size which means that those who don’t have super fast internet could only be downloading the game on launch day perhaps still downloading it after launch day.
Just to confirm – Metro Exodus pre-load for existing Steam pre-order customers WILL HAPPEN, and we will announce expected start time in due course.

We regret to inform that pre-load via the Epic Games Store is not planned.

No exact reason was given by Deep Silver as to why this is the case. Most possibly the decision to switch to a new launch platform has something to do with it. So for those who pre-ordered the game on Steam, go ahead and enjoy the privilege. The pre-loading date and time will be announced: “in due course”.
Metro Exodus will be launching on February 15, 2019, available for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
