Microsoft Plans To Purchase Activision Blizzard

Microsoft is planning to buy Activision Blizzard for a whopping $68 billion. This move will make them the third-largest gaming company following Sony and Tencent.

Activision Blizzard is being bought by Microsoft for $68 billion dollars cash.

This will mean that games under Activision Blizzard like Overwatch, World of Warcraft, Diablo, StarCraft, Candy Crush, Call of Duty and many more will now be under Microsoft.

CEO of Microsoft Gaming, Phil Spencer said that they are excited to add “as many Activision Blizzard games as we can” to the Xbox Game Pass.

It is exciting to think that Overwatch, Diablo, and Call of Duty will be a part of the Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass.

Activision Blizzard has had a rough year with controversies surrounding their current CEO Bobby Kotick. Rumor has it that Kotick will be stepping down once the deal with Microsoft pushes through.

Microsoft recently purchased ZeniMax, the parent company of Bethesda. They are the ones responsible for The Elder Scrolls and the Fallout franchises.

All these steps are geared towards the metaverse which is an immersive gaming platform for AR, VR, streaming and cloud gaming.
