AI is the current talk of the town as developers, publishers and gamers all have different opinions about how AI can help in the creation and improvement of video games.
Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord recently got a mod from a modder named Bloc and it has a “custom story engine” which is able to generate the dialogue and interactions of NPCs.
This of course is not perfect, like in the video presented, there are some notable load times in between the generated dialogue. The interactions also seem robotic.
We are not saying that ChatGPT or any automated writing shouldn’t be used in gaming. We are sure that the more that modders and developers experiment with it, it will get significant improvements.
Take-Two Interactive CEO Straus Zelnick said that AI would not replace writers or devs, but would most likely help them in creating games.
