PlayStation Won’t Be At E3 This Year
E3 is still months away but it is already the talk of the town! This is all thanks to the announcement of PlayStation that they will be skipping this year’s E3 as well.
Surely you are wondering as to why PlayStation would opt-out in this year’s E3 too since they already skipped last year’s. It could have been the best opportunity to reveal the upcoming PS 5. Sony did answer that saying that they don’t feel that E3 is the right place for what they are offering. Sony’s statement read, “After thorough evaluation SIE has decided not to participate in E3 2020”, they added, “We have great respect for the ESA as an organization, but we do not feel the vision of E3 2020 is the right venue for what we are focused on this year”.
With that statement, it seems that Sony would want to be a part of fan-focused events instead. As we all know E3 had been the leading event when it comes to reveals and announcements concentrating on videogames as an industry. On the other side of the spectrum are events that celebrate their fans like Gamescom, The Tokyo Game Show, and the GDC.
Microsoft, on the other hand, will be taking a different route from Sony. Phil Spencer has announced that the Xbox team is hard to work and are preparing for E3. This is what he posted on Twitter.

When it comes to promoting the next-gen console, Microsoft is already leading against Sony. However, the current-gen consoles, Sony’s lead is way ahead, so they would still probably fo great. What we are sure of though is that Sony won’t be at E3 while Microsoft will.
The ESA did reply to Sony’s announcement and it felt like a generic response saying “E3 2020 will be an exciting, high energy show featuring new experiences, partners, exhibitor spaces, activations, and programming that will entertain new and veteran attendees alike. Exhibitor interest in our new activations is gaining the attention of brands that view E3 as a key opportunity to connect with video game fans worldwide”.
E3 2020 will be on June 9th up until the 11th and it will be held in Los Angeles, California.
