What Year Did the PS4 Launch?

Sony announced the PlayStation 4 at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in 2013 before presenting it at E3 2013.

Sony confirmed they did not share Microsoft’s policies on zoning, blocking used games, and mandatory logins for playing games.

Because of all these, and their acceptance of game sharing, Sony took a giant leap ahead of Microsoft in the console wars.

After Sony’s successful PS4 announcement, Microsoft changed its policies to align the Xbox One better with the PlayStation 4.

  • PlayStation 4: 15 November 2013
  • PS4 Slim: 15 September 2016
  • PS4 Pro was released on 10 November 2016

  • PlayStation 4 Pro: Improved storage capacity, better CPU, and much-improved GPU capable of 4K resolution.

No, PS3 games can not be played on your PS4, PS4 Slim, or PS4 Pro.
