Rust Turns 8 Reaches Over 12 Million Copies Sold Since Launch

Facepunch has a new post on Steam sharing a new milestone for their game Rust. Plans for the game this year have also been shared.

This December 2021, Rust celebrated its 8th anniversary. Developer Facepunch shared some of the game’s stats as well as their plans for the game this 2022.

The developers started by sharing that the game was able to sell more than 12.4 million copies since its release. This is a notable feat for a survival game. All of its DLCs combined sold over 1.1 million. The game was even able to reach 267,211 peak player count.

Rust was also able to reach a total of 1.3 billion views on Twitch and has been broadcasted for a total of 4.2 million hours.

This year, Facepunch promises to update the game every first Thursday of the month. This will also come with “occasional hotfixes and holiday events”.

New content can also be expected like animals, vehicles, deployables, weapons and more. We can expect an update for quality of life changes this February and the new Arctic monument will be releasing soon.

Facepunch adds, “We’re excited to see what we can accomplish in 2022 and we thank each and every one of our players for continuing to enjoy our work”.
