Steam Keys For Shenmue 3 Will Not Be Available At Launch Date

Previously, Deep Silver has announced that Shenmue 3 will be launching as an Epic Games Store timed exclusive. The announcement was actually made during E3 2019. This did not sit well for a lot of the game’s Kickstarter backers who would want to receive their game via Steam. Ys Net, the developers of the game shared the options that backers would have in order to get the game.

Those who would want to receive their keys via Steam will still be disappointed with the announcement. Because of the exclusivity deal, the Steam keys will only be available one year after the game launches on the Epic Game Store. But four options had been provided to choose from. We’ve listed the four options for you according to the Kickstarter update.

1. PC Physical: Package (Disc) + EGS Key
2. PC Digital: EGS Key
3. PS4 Physical: Package (Disc)
4. PS4 Digital: PSN Voucher Code

*For those who are opting for the PC Physical or PC Digital version, you will also have the option to get the Steam key a year later. This option must be manually selected in the survey in order to receive the Steam key.

**Also, those who originally selected PC and would want to change it to PS4, that can be done, as well as the other way around.

If by chance you are still not happy with the four options that were provided for you, a refund can be requested. However, the refund has a disclaimer saying, if “rewards within your reward tier, such as ingame content, have already been created and implemented, a full refund may not be possible”. This has not been clarified, but with the looks of things, the higher tier backers will only be refunded the value of the base game refund instead of what they have pledged in full.

Shenmue 3 will be launching on November 19, 2019, available for PC and PlayStation 4.
