Street Fighter V’s season one of DLC releases has come to a close. This has left its fans wondering what the future holds for this long-running fighting game.

In an interview by Famitsu (and translated by EventHubs) with the producers of Street Fighter V – Yoshinori Ono and Tamaoki Ayano, the future seems long and bright for the game. They have confirmed that SFV will get continuous support up until 2020 or so. Also, because they have plans to establish the game as a solid eSports title. “Street Fighter V is a title we’re adding on to as it goes along, so we’re working on it while planning ahead on the best way to develop it further.”

“I said in the beginning that we’ve seen a higher number of [tournament] entrants than we had in Street Fighter 4 era, but we’d like to heighten that even further,” as posted in the magazine interview.

The producers also concluded that “the more people who participate, the bigger tournaments we can host, and more people are going to watch them, which is directly connected to our sales, and that’s doing to decide the future.”

It is safe to say that we will be seeing Street Fighter V for a very long time. And getting new content is planned for the future.

Street Fighter 5 is available to be played on PC and PlayStation 4.
