Two years ago, the game’s developers announced that this game is releasing this year. And today, a specific launch date was announced for the game which is May 16, 2017.
With the launch date announcement, Deck13 released another launch trailer that is more action packed and shows the continuation of the very first CGI trailer of the game.
This newest RPG game will kind of remind you of the Souls series due to its difficulty, but this game is more than that. One of its noteworthy features is the newest targeting system. This system allows players to specifically target your choice of the enemy’s body. You can either hack and slash on limbs or torso as a counter attack or even just to target it to loot and make it your own weapon or armor.
A new video came out last month that features the type of action you could expect from The Surge and it is about 14 minutes long. Here, the game’s designer Adam Heteyin talks about the game’s different locations like industrial complexes, CREO and RND as well as the abandoned laboratories. You can watch this in the video below:
The main character is equipped with an industrial exoskeleton. Your enemies in the game are sort of like you because they also use nanotechnology. You will have the ability to steal weapons and equipment by using the Targeting System to simply attack the enemies or cut the specific parts that you need.
Side missions are also available in the game. This comes in a form of saving some survivors that you find scattered across the huge complex. Helping them out will give you “extra” rewards. The game’s developers expect players to have a balance between the missions as well as “desire to venture deeper into the complex”.
