Unravel is a game that mixes platforming and puzzle solving. You embody Yarny a little hero made of woolen thread. Yarny would have to go through 12 levels and look for 12 photos in order to gather forgotten childhood memories.
Unravel can be called a pearl when it comes to graphics and gameplay, indeed we marvel at the story and its gameplay even shedding a tear or two from time to time. The plot of the story is melancholic and the original soundtrack is sometimes badly synchronized with the events but everything about the game is simply superb.
Yarny will have to collect small balls of yarn in order to extend its range, its lifespan as well as to continue progress in the game. The puzzles are rather simplistic that even a child would be able to solve them but it does not detract from the charm of the game.
The games that we selected are based on different survival and exploration games that closely resemble Unravel.
As for the games, that would resemble the game Unravel a few games came to mind. Games like The Cave, Trine 2 or Child of Light which offers fairy-like decorations and an equally original and touching story.
The gameplay of these games is relatively simple. Like in Child of Light where you will have to face opponents and solve some puzzles to advance, in Unravel you progress through the game by solving puzzles that will allow you to overcome obstacles.
The controls will allow you to throw a lasso-like woolen rope which will allow you to cross through obstacles or move objects in able to clear a passage.
As said above, the common points are mainly the gameplay, graphics, and original soundtracks associated with the game. That said, not all games are meant to be as beautiful as Unravel or have a soundtrack that is melancholic.
Games like DeadLight, Closure, or Inside have a more harsh atmosphere as well as in a darker setting.
There is indeed a multitude of games where the character can evolve in completely different environments. Each player will be able to find which one will fit them among our selection of games that resemble Unravel.
