Ubisoft Delay’s Upcoming Games Because of Ghost Recon Breakpoint’s Failure

Ghost Recon Breakpoint has a messy launch. It has a lot of bugs, so many microtransactions, and a very poor design overall. Because of the game’s failure, Ubisoft was forced to make adjustments to their other releases in order to compensate.

The adjustments done by Ubisoft was to delay their other games like Watch Dogs, Legions, Rainbow Six Quarantine, and Gods and Monsters. The release dates are undetermined for now, but surely it is for the next fiscal year starting on April 1, 2020. Another thing is that Ubisoft is already preparing themselves for the loses brought about by Breakpoint and The Division 2. They were able to reduce their financial target from €2.185 billion to just €1.450 billion, which is about 33% less.

Yves Guillemot, the CEO of Ubisoft said that he did not expect Breakpoint to perform that bad. “For Ghost Recon Breakpoint, while the game’s quality appeared on track – based on E3, Gamescom, previews and our latest internal playtests – critical reception and sales during the game’s first weeks were very disappointing.” Even though that is the case, Guillemot still promised that they will “continue to support the game and listen to the community in order to deliver the necessary improvements”.

Ubisoft would also like the delayed games to be perfect and not buggy when they launch and that the games should be interesting to players. “While each of these games already has a strong identity and high potential, we want our teams to have more development time to ensure that their respective innovations are perfectly implemented so as to deliver optimal experiences for players.

With everything that is happening with Breakpoint, hopefully, it could pull off another Assassin’s Creed Origins. The game also had a rough launch but was eventually fixed making it one of the best games in the series.
