UBISOFT SERVER SHUTDOWN POSTPONED
Ubisoft announced that they will be shutting down the servers of their older games on September 1st but was delayed for one month.
According to the blog post on the official Ubisoft website, the decommissioning of online services for older games is “a necessity as the technology that drove those services becomes obsolete.”
The list of games that will be decommissioned are:
- Assassin’s Creed II
- Assassin’s Creed III
- Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood
- Assassin’s Creed Revelations
- Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD
- Driver San Francisco
- Far Cry 3
- Ghost Recon Future Soldier
- Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands
- Rayman Legends
- Silent Hunter 5
- Splinter Cell: Blacklist
- ZombiU
Once the servers of the games listed above are shut down, the multiplayer will not work. This is the same with some DLCs.
One game that will completely stop working is Space Junkies which is an online VR shooter for PC because it is an online-only game.
A game that Ubisoft is planning to keep is Anno 2070 as Ubisoft Mainz is planning to update and replace its old servers.
With the delayed shutdown, we will be seeing the games listed above decommissioned on October 1st except for Space Junkies which is on September 1st.
