Mirror’s Edge Catalyst has a new Dev Diary which explains about the city of Glass as well as Faith’s story. Watch Level Artist Linnea Harrison, Narrative Director Christopher Emgard and Level Designer Terrence Cronin as they talk about Faith’s story and her edgy look, the elements that is a part of the city, the dynamic time of day as well as the factions found in the game.

Faith’s Iconic Look

Faith’s edgy look has been very iconic and this radiates her determination. She wants to search for her own path and doesn’t want to follow everyone else’s. It is a “metaphor for how she cuts through the city of Glass,” as said by Linnea Harrison.

Faith’s New Story

The game will start as Faith just being released from prison. She has been in there for two years and has not seen the city since then.

Elements of the City

History can be seen in the city’s architecture. The Downtown part of the city looks like old Mirror’s Edge while the other parts are new, shiny and polished.

Dynamic Time of Day

The dynamic time of day will show transitions from day to night which can be seen in the building’s appearances as well. This has to be done seamlessly, showing the city’s beauty in the day as well as in the night.

There will be three main factions in the game. First are the Authorities, they are the main ruling power of the city. Next, the Black November which is a renegade group who is against the authorities. Lastly, the Runners, a neutral faction however with everything that is happening they have no choice but to act.
